Udupi: Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake emphasized that society as a whole suffers when individuals exploit caste and religion for political gain. Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the Udupi District Congress Minority Wing and the communal harmony Iftar gathering, he urged people to stay alert against divisive tactics designed to create rifts.

Commitment to Social Harmony

Newly appointed District Minority Wing president Sharpuddin Sheikh highlighted the historic contributions of various communities to the state and nation. He reaffirmed that coexistence and mutual support remain strong in the region. The Minority Wing, he assured, would work towards fostering greater unity in society.

Event and Notable Attendees

The gathering took place at the Udupi District Congress office in Brahmagiri, beginning with a prayer led by Maulana Irshad Saadi. The event was chaired by writer Mushtaq Hennabail, alongside Harish Kini, Amrith Shenoy, and Ashok Kumar Kodavoor.

Distinguished leaders, including Prasad Raj Kanchan, Fr William Martis, Mushtaq Ahmed Belve, Nakhwa Yahya, Muhammad Maula, Ramesh Kanchan, Naveen Chandra Shetty, and Geetha Wagle, attended, alongside Congress party members.
