Udupi: To commemorate the 186th World Photography Day, the South Kanara Photographers’ Association, Udupi Zone, in collaboration with Prasad Nethralaya, hosted a free eye check-up camp at Jagannatha Sabha Bhavana, Udupi.

The initiative not only highlighted the importance of eye care for photographers but also recognised contributions in the field. Dr Krishna Prasad of Prasad Nethralaya was honoured for his dedicated service, while senior photographer Padigaru Lakshmi Narayana Upadhyaya received a felicitation for his work and commitment to the profession. Additionally, financial aid was provided to members requiring medical support.

The programme was presided over by Sudhir M Shetty, president of the Udupi Zone. Also present were district vice-president Praveen Correa, honorary president Naveen Ballal, and secretaries Divakar Hiriyadka and Ramesh Bhat.

Over 70 photographers attended the camp, which emphasised the vital role of maintaining good vision in the photography profession. The organisers said such initiatives strengthen the community while encouraging awareness about health.
