Udupi: Udupi’s revered Sri Krishna Math is set to unveil a magnificent architectural addition — a newly designed wooden Yali (Suthupauli), reflecting coastal artistry and spiritual heritage. Spearheaded by Sri Sugunendratheertha Sripada of Puttige Math, the structure is estimated to cost Rs. 1 crore and adds a traditional yet artistic dimension to the temple’s visual landscape.

Extending from the Kanaka Gopura to Madhva Sarovar, and including the Chandrashala, the new roof installation blends classical aesthetics with innovative craftsmanship. The inauguration is scheduled for August 9 at 10 AM, following the Maha Puja held on the auspicious full moon day.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate the Yali, accompanied by Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murthy and retired Chief Justice Dinesh Kumar, adding prestige to the event.

The temple authorities, including Diwan Nagaraj Acharya and Secretary Prasannacharya, also announced a religious congregation featuring prominent seers like Adamaru Math’s Sri Vishwapriyatirtha Sripada and Puttige Junior Sri Susrindratheertha Sripada.

A highlight of the day will be the launch of the Mahila Vidyapeeth at Geeta Mandir, a women-centric initiative by Puttige Math. Sitharaman and Murthy will inaugurate the academy aimed at training women in spiritual and cultural disciplines such as Bhagavad Gita recitation, Lakshmi Shobhane, shlokas, rangoli art, flower decoration, and lamp wick-making.

The dual events celebrate Sri Krishna Math’s cultural legacy, architectural grandeur, and inclusive spiritual mission, promising continued inspiration for generations.
