Udupi: Three people were injured in a road accident on National Highway 66 near Udyavara on Friday morning after an XUV vehicle lost control, mounted the divider, and collided with a crash guard.
The accident occurred close to the Kia showroom in Udyavara, causing a brief disruption to traffic. According to initial reports, the vehicle was travelling from Mangaluru to Haryana when the driver reportedly lost control, leading to the crash.
Minor injuries, major damage
Though the impact appeared severe, the three occupants of the vehicle escaped with only minor injuries. However, the XUV suffered heavy front-end damage, and the crash guard on the divider was also significantly damaged due to the force of the collision.
Emergency responders and passersby rushed to the aid of the passengers, who were later given first aid.
Police investigation underway
Personnel from the Kaup police station arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to assess the situation and launch an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary observations suggest that speeding or momentary distraction could have contributed to the mishap.
Traffic was temporarily affected as authorities cleared the vehicle and debris from the highway.
