Udupi: As part of the Sri Krishna Janmashtami festivities, Udupi city is witnessing a spectacular display of tiger dance and other traditional performances. This year, young women’s tiger dance groups are drawing special attention for their energetic performances across the city streets.

Tiger dance dominates the celebrations

Over 50 tiger dance groups have taken to the streets, creating an atmosphere filled with music, colour, and excitement. For two days, the rhythmic sounds of drums and tiger roars have echoed throughout the city, marking the fervour of the Ashtami celebrations.

Participation from across the district

Tiger dance groups from Nittur, Malpe Kadabettu, Kadiyali, Marpalli Chande Balaga, and other areas have been participating, contributing to the festive spirit. In total, more than 100 tiger dance groups from across Udupi district are part of the celebrations, showcasing traditional folk art and cultural heritage.
