Udupi: In a commendable display of public service, Udupi traffic police officers took the initiative to repair a large pothole on the service road of National Highway 66 at Ambalpady, earning praise from residents and commuters alike.

The pothole had been causing major inconvenience to vehicles entering the city, posing a serious risk to motorists, especially two-wheeler riders and daily commuters.

Instead of waiting for civic authorities to intervene, the traffic police stepped in voluntarily, using stones and gravel to fill the deep crater. In a few cases, they were also spotted helping stranded vehicles that got stuck due to the damaged road.

Their actions, outside their routine duties, highlight a spirit of community commitment and concern for public safety. A video capturing their effort quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread admiration and support from the public.

Locals have lauded the police for their hands-on problem-solving approach, calling it a much-needed example of responsive governance at the grassroots level.
