Udupi: In a remarkable act of compassion, the Yakshagana Kala Ranga Sanstha of Udupi has reconstructed a house within a month for a backstage artist who lost his dwelling to severe wind and rain.
The artist, Suresh Acharya, affiliated with the Mandarthi Mela, had his humble home destroyed at the start of the rainy season. He and his elderly parents were left homeless, facing great hardship. Learning about their plight, the Sanstha swiftly took action and laid the foundation stone for the new house on April 20.
Now, after just 40 days, the house is fully completed and ready for occupation. The ceremonial graha pravesh was conducted by Sri Vishwa Prasanna Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, marking a joyful new beginning for the family.
This newly constructed home is the 73rd residence the Yakshagana Kala Ranga Sanstha has built as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts. The project was funded by the Shri Raghavendra Charitable Trust, Hebri, in honor of Mandarthi Krishna Adiga.
The house, situated in Petriya Kannar, Brahmavar taluk, cost approximately Rs. 6.50 lakhs and stands as a testament to the community’s dedication to supporting its artists in times of crisis.
Through this noble gesture, the Sanstha continues to uplift the cultural fraternity and provide relief to those in need, strengthening bonds within the Yakshagana community.
