Udupi: Renowned Bharatanatyam artist Vidushi Deeksha V is preparing to etch her name in the record books with a 216-hour continuous Bharatanatyam performance. The event will take place from August 21 to August 30 at the Dr. G. Shankar Women’s First Degree and Postgraduate Studies Centre, Ajjarkad, Udupi.
At a press conference, Deeksha shared details of her upcoming feat, stating that the world record attempt is being organized under the banner of Ratna Sanjeeva Kalamandala, Manipal, with the theme “Navarasa Deeksha Vaibhavam.” She expressed her deep passion for Bharatanatyam and her determination to achieve something extraordinary through this classical dance form.
“I am a disciple of Vidwan Sridhar Rao. With his guidance and my dedication to the art, I aim to bring recognition not only to myself but also to the cultural richness of Bharatanatyam,” Deeksha said.
The press meet was attended by Vidwan Sridhar Rao, Usha Hebbar, and Ashwini Mahesh Thakur, who extended their support and encouragement to the young dancer.
The ambitious performance, spanning nine consecutive days, will showcase the depth of Bharatanatyam while celebrating the essence of Navarasa (nine emotions) through intricate dance expressions. If successful, this endeavor will mark a historic milestone in the world of classical dance.
