Mangaluru: In a story that has sparked hope across coastal Karnataka, 20-year-old engineering student K S Rituparna from Vyasnagar, Mangaluru, has secured a prestigious job offer with Rolls-Royce in the U.S., bagging a remarkable annual package of Rs 72.3 lakh — all while still in her sixth semester.
A Robotics and Automation student at Sahyadri College of Engineering, Rituparna had once aimed to become a doctor. When she couldn’t crack NEET, disappointment followed — but so did determination. Encouraged by her chemist parents, Suresh and Geetha, she chose engineering, which soon became a passion.
Her breakthrough came after eight months of persistent interviews with the American division of Rolls-Royce, despite not landing an internship. She will soon join their Texas unit after completing her seventh semester.
Rituparna’s schedule now includes training from midnight to 6 a.m., followed by regular college hours — a feat demanding strict discipline and laser focus.
Early in her academic journey, she created a sprayer-harvester device that won gold at an international innovation conference in Goa. Later, she built a mobile app for waste management that earned praise from the Mangaluru district collector.
Her proud father shared, “She travels by government bus and never lost sight of her goal. Her journey proves that dedication and hard work beat all odds.”
Rituparna’s story is a bold testament to turning setbacks into stepping stones — and making dreams fly.
