KOZHIKODE: A violent scuffle broke out between student groups outside the MES Arts and Science College in Kunnamangalam on Monday, shortly after the degree supplementary examinations. The confrontation involved current students and former students of the institution.
According to police, the altercation was a revenge attack sparked by an old grudge. The clash occurred on the public road in front of the college, leading to a temporary traffic jam. The Kunnamangalam police have registered a case against 30 identified individuals under Sections 194(2) and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
College officials clarified that the incident took place beyond the campus boundary. However, Principal Shafeeque Alathur assured that disciplinary action would be initiated. “Though the fight happened outside, we take this seriously. We will investigate and act against those involved,” he said.
The incident has raised concerns over student indiscipline and off-campus violence, prompting calls for preventive measures and stronger supervision of student groups.
