Karwar: In a surprising move, Priya Gowda, the former president of Kadawada village panchayat in Karwar taluk, has stepped down from her position to return to the teaching profession.

Gowda, who began her political journey as a Gram Panchayat member in 2021, quickly rose to become the chairperson. After successfully completing her second term of 20 months, she submitted her resignation to the Sub-Divisional Officer on August 1.

Explaining her decision, Gowda expressed a deep inclination towards education, stating that she found teaching to be a more fulfilling form of social service than politics. She has now taken up a guest teacher position at a private school in Shimoga.
