In Mundgod, Local Tibetan Justice Commissioner Phuntsok Palden led a legal awareness campaign and presided over the oath-taking ceremony for the new members of the Local Tibetan Assembly (LTA).

On August 3, 2024, Palden addressed around 250 residents of the Doeguling Tibetan Settlement, including the Settlement Officer, on the historical and current legal frameworks of Tibetan governance in exile. He provided insights into the Tibetan Justice Commission’s Code of Civil Procedure, discussing evidence, witness examination, and standards of proof. Following this, he held a private meeting with five Tibetan lawyers based in Doeguling.

Later that day, Palden conducted a similar session for the teachers and students of Sambhota Tibetan School, focusing on legal principles and procedures.

On August 4, Palden administered the oath to the newly elected members of the 12th Local Tibetan Assembly. Out of 33 members, 31 attended the ceremony. Pema Dorjee and Geshe Sherab Gyatso were elected as the new President and Vice President, respectively.
