In response to rising incidents of cow theft in Uttara Kannada, District In-charge Minister Mankal S Vaidya has issued a stern warning, asserting that anyone involved in such activities would face severe consequences. His statement follows the outrage over the brutal slaughter of a pregnant cow near Honnavar.
Minister Vaidya made it clear that he would not tolerate these actions in the district and emphasized the administration’s commitment to protecting cows and the interests of those who care for them. Speaking to reporters, he highlighted that cow theft has been an ongoing issue, but assured that steps would be taken to end it.
“We affectionately rear them. We grow up drinking their milk,” he said, stressing the cultural importance of cows to the local community. Vaidya confirmed that the police had been instructed to take strict action against those responsible, regardless of their identity.
He further expressed that arrests had been made in some cases and warned that continued incidents might result in extreme measures. “I will ensure that they (the accused) are shot on the road or at the circle. We won’t support such people,” he declared.
Addressing the political opposition, Vaidya criticized the BJP for failing to act during their time in power and vowed that his government would protect cow rearing practices in the district at all costs.
