A 19-year-old tourist from Bangalore, identified as Puneet K., was rescued from drowning by lifeguard personnel while swimming in the Arabian Sea at Murdeshwar on Sunday morning. Puneet had traveled to the coastal town with four friends for a holiday.
While swimming, Puneet was caught in strong waves, prompting a swift response from the lifeguards. Shekhar Devadiga, Giri Harikant, and Lohit Harikant led the rescue, with crucial assistance from local fishermen Gundo Harikant and Santosh Harikant, who used boats to bring Puneet to safety.
The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall over the past few days, leading to dangerous sea conditions. Despite warnings from lifeguards about the risks of entering the sea during such weather, Puneet ventured into the turbulent waters.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety advisories, especially during adverse weather conditions.
