Mumbai: The inaugural World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, India’s most anticipated entertainment extravaganza, officially commenced on May 1 at the Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC) in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. This four-day celebration, organized by the Government of India, aims to showcase the rich landscape of the country’s media and entertainment industry.

The summit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking the beginning of a star-studded affair. Throughout the event, notable figures such as Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Mohanlal, Hema Malini, Akshay Kumar, SS Rajamouli, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Chiranjeevi, and Vicky Kaushal are set to make appearances.

The opening panel, “Legends & Legacies: The Stories that Shaped India’s Soul”, began at 12:30 PM with Rajinikanth, Mithun Chakraborty, Hema Malini, Chiranjeevi, and Mohanlal, moderated by Akshay Kumar. Following that, at 2:30 PM, the discussion “The New Mainstream: Breaking Borders, Building Legends” featured SS Rajamouli, AR Rahman, Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, led by Karan Johar.

Another highlight, “The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler”, spotlighted Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, again moderated by Johar. Later, Allu Arjun participated in a special segment titled “Talent Beyond Borders” at 5 PM.

Tributes will also be paid to legendary actor Manoj Kumar, with Hema Malini and Madhur Bhandarkar sharing insights into his legacy. The day wraps up with mesmerizing performances by MM Keeravani, Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam, KS Chithra, Shankar Mahadevan, and others.
