Uttar Pradesh: A bride walked out of her wedding after her to-be bridegroom failed to do simple maths calculations and couldn’t use a smartphone.
Khushboo was all set to marry Omveer Singh resident of Auraiyya in a big fat wedding. But things went wrong when the girl came to know that the groom’s side lied about Omveer’s education qualification.
Kushboo’s family was told that Omveer was a graduate and they owned 60 bighas of land, but to her amusement Omveer was even able to recite the mantras after the priest.
After coming across such suspicion the bride asked the groom to do simple calculation where the he failed badly and when she asked to differentiate between 69 and 79 in Hindi, as the words are quite similar and confuse many, the groom failed again.
Following which Khushboo denied marrying Omveer, although groom’s family tried to convince the bride to return, but she refused saying the man was illiterate.
The story further goes, Khushboo asked Omveer were heading towards stage when she asked him to dial her number and Omveer goes again and fumbled.
Khusboo stopped in middle of the way and asked the groom’s family to let him take a test before sitting for ‘phere’. The groom and his family agreed to this.
Khusboo started with handing over coins of Rs 66 and asked him to add up and Omveer faltered, when he was asked to operate a smartphone he badly failed and the upset bride broke the marriage.
Later a panchayat of elders was called immediately on the spot but they too failed to convince the girl for the marriage.
