Haryana: Famous TV actress Smita Bansal, who has featured in many prime time TV shows including Balika Vadhu on Colors has been accused of dowry harassment. Smita’s sister-in-law has filed a case under section 498(A) against her in-laws and the actress at the Mahila Thana in Gurgaon.
Media reports suggest that Megha Gupta, the complainant, has alleged that Smita and her family took away her belongings and money. Megha is the wife of Smita’s brother Saurabh who came to Gurgaon this year only after her marriage in 2009. The couple had been putting up in Londo previously.
Megha came back to her mother’s house after a fallout with her husband, and accused that she was tortured for dowry. Smita’s sister-in-law approached the Gurgaon police in October and since the now an FIR has been registered on Friday against Smita and her family.
While Smita refused to comment on the issue, her husband Ankush Mohla told media that the police hadn’t gotten in touch with the family and they also got to know about the complaint through the media.
Police meanwhile is interrogating the issue.
