IAS officer spends night at graveyard to protect evidence

A senior IAS officer in Tamil Nadu has become a Twitter hero after he spent a night in a graveyard to protect “evidence”.


U. Sangyam has been appointed as the Legal commisioner by Tamilandu High Court to probe multi-crore granite scam in Madurai. He chose to spend his time in graveyard when the district office expressed inability in digging out the grounds.

According to The Hindu, the IAS officer was worried that the graveyard would be tampered with. Despite the assurance by the local police officials and revenue officers, the officer was at the graveyard located in E-Malampatti near Melur till late morning.

On Sunday, Bones of four bodies, including that of a baby, were exhumed from a graveyard in E-Malampatti near Melur on Sunday following a complaint against a granite quarry operator of having made human sacrifice of two mentally-challenged persons and buried them in 1999 reported by ChennaiOnline.

The bones would be sent to forensic laboratory in Chennai and the evidence gathered from it would be presented before the court, a police officer told Chennai Online.
