Mumbai has witnessed heavy rainfall over the past few days. The downpour has caused severe waterlogging on streets, led to trains services being disrupted and even affected flights flying in and out of the city. As Mumbai deals with the impact of rains, Mumbai Police has tweeted a message for Mumbaikars. The tweet is typical of the Mumbai Police handle which often posts important messages in quirky and interesting ways. This time Mumbai Police has used the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. theme song to put across their message.

“Right here. For you Mumbai. Always. #MumbaiFirst,” says the tweet posted some six hours before writing this. The tweet is accompanied with a GIF comprising two pictures showing police personnel doing their duty during the rains. On the GIF you can also read lyrics from the famous F.R.I.E.N.D.S. theme song, slightly modified: “We’ll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour.”

Take a look:

Since being posted, the tweet has received over 1,100 ‘likes’ and almost 200 retweets.

“Thank you Mumbai Police for tirelessly working for us. Deepest gratitude,” writes one Twitter user. “Salute to our Mumbai police force,” says another. “Mumbai Police you are like Joey – kind, funny, and always ask everyone ‘How you doin’?'” says a third.

Earlier Mumbai Police tweeted another GIF asking people to exercise caution while driving during the rainy season.

Mumbai has received five times the normal amount of rain so far. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the Navy and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are on standby. School principals in the city have been advised to assess the situation in their areas and take a call on closure of schools, Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde tweeted.
