Nice: A female Muslim bartender was beaten up by two men after she served alcohol during the holy month of Ramadan. The incident took place in French city of Nice where a waitress was assaulted by two Muslim men for selling alcohol. The victim, who is from Tunisia, was abused and severely thrashed by the men.
“I was all alone in the bar when two passersby stormed in. They pointed at the alcohol bottles at the counter, and one of them told me in Arabic, ‘You should be ashamed of serving alcohol during Ramadan,” the victim told the French Nouvel Obs newspaper. One the men slapped her and knocked her to the ground.
“Serving alcohol doesn’t mean I’m not following my (religious) duties. I’m doing it because I am a bartender. In Tunisia, I do the same job and I never had any problems,” the dejected woman said adding that she felt degraded, humiliated and sullied. ”I didn’t think that in France, the country of liberty, you could be attacked for this,” she stated further.
The French police has identified the attackers with the help of CCTV footage, however no arrest has been made so far.
