Haryana: In order to assure a speedy and also maintaining the pollution-free environment the postal department introduced the e-bikes for postmen as part of a project which was launched on Friday in DLF Phase I.
The initiative also included introduction of solar energy panels in two post offices in Gurgaon. Soon other post offices will also be absorbed after an experimental check in these two locations.
According to a report, the initiative was taken to maintain a pollution-free environment and 6 rented e-bikes were inducted. The running cost of each comes which also includes electricity and maintenace cost is upto Rs 1.50 per kilometre.
The postman’s job will now become much more comfortable and easy. The initiative was welcomed by all the postmen as each day close to 2 hours will be saved.
Post master general Umesh Verma said that the project will help bring down costs and also maintain cleanliness and pollution-free environment. The solar energy panels of 2kVA have been installed in DLF Qutub Enclave and DLF phase-II and will help in providing uninterrupted electricity.
