What started as a casual evening chat in Kolar’s Karanjikatte area turned into an intense test of stamina—one that left a middle-aged man lighter by Rs 4 lakh and four determined women richer in both confidence and cash!
On Tuesday night, a group of local women engaged in post-dinner conversation expressed their desire to visit Kedarnath and Badrinath. Overhearing them, a man, Appi (name changed), dismissed their plan, claiming they wouldn’t have the endurance for the trek. The women confidently challenged his statement, prompting him to place a bet: anyone who could walk non-stop to Narasapura, 15 km away, would receive 10 grams of gold. The women, however, negotiated for Rs 1 lakh each instead.
With terms agreed upon and local elders nodding in approval, the women set off at 10:45 PM, accompanied by escorting vehicles and cheering supporters. At 5 km, a nervous Appi offered them Rs 10,000 each to quit, but they refused. At 10 km, he raised it to Rs 50,000, yet they pressed on.
Finally, at 1:10 AM, they victoriously reached Narasapura. A stunned Appi had no choice but to hand over Rs 50,000 each on the spot, promising the remaining amount by the weekend. While the women preferred to stay out of the spotlight, Appi chose to remain anonymous, fearing mockery over his unexpected loss.
