Three students of Indian descent lost their lives, and two others were injured in a car accident in Georgia, USA, last week.
The victims, all 18 years old, were students at Alpharetta High School and the University of Georgia.
Authorities suspect that excessive speed contributed to the fatal crash, which occurred in Alpharetta on May 14. According to the police, the speeding car flipped over and came to rest upside down in a tree line after the driver lost control.
Aryanb Joshi and Sriya Avasarala died at the scene, while Anvi Sharma succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The injured students, Rithwak Somepalli and Mohammed Liyakath, are currently receiving treatment at North Fulton Hospital in Alpharetta.
Sriya Avasarala was part of the UGA Shikaari dance team, which mourned her loss, stating, “You were such an amazing dancer, friend, and just a person to be around.” Anvi Sharma was a singer with UGA Kalakaar, an a cappella group that expressed their shock and devastation over her passing.
Aryanb Joshi, who was set to graduate from high school the following week, was remembered by the Alpharetta High cricket team. They posted on Instagram, “He was one of our biggest supporters, and his support was a crucial factor in all our wins.”
