On Monday, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan, located northeast of Tokyo, according to the country’s meteorological agency.

The earthquake occurred at 10:07 a.m. local time and registered a 3 on Japan’s 7-point seismic intensity scale. The epicenter was situated off northern Ibaraki prefecture at a depth of 90 km, with coordinates of 36.8 degrees north latitude and 140.8 degrees east longitude, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

The tremors were felt in central Tokyo, although no tsunami warnings were issued.
