Jeju Air flight veered off the runway and collided with a fence at Muan International Airport in South Korea. The plane, en route from Bangkok, Thailand, to Muan, was carrying 175 passengers and 6 crew members. Emergency officials reported that at least 85 people died in the crash, with 179 feared dead as rescue operations turned into recovery efforts. The aircraft reportedly skidded off the runway before a fire engulfed the plane, creating thick black smoke visible from the scene. The South Korean Fire Authority has confirmed that of the 181 people onboard, only two were rescued, with the rest presumed dead. This incident comes shortly after a plane crash in Kazakhstan, involving an Azerbaijan Airlines flight that killed 38 of the 67 people on board. In response to the Muan crash, Boeing expressed condolences, confirming they are in contact with Jeju Air to support the investigation. Meanwhile, Jeju Air’s CEO, Kim E-bae, issued a public apology, expressing profound responsibility for the tragedy and pledging full cooperation with the government investigation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities are working to understand the details of the incident.
