Rosé’s collaboration with Bruno Mars, APT, has not only conquered global charts but is now making waves in traditional Asian weddings! The catchy tune, released in October 2024, has turned into a party anthem and is now a viral hit at Pakistani weddings. A video posted by Dubai-based influencer Ramsha Sami shows a group of women playing APT on dholak, a traditional percussion instrument, during a wedding celebration. The video, which was shared on Instagram, features the caption: “Who says millennials and Gen Z don’t know desi songs for a big fat Pakistani wedding? ”
The viral clip highlights how APT has become the go-to song for dholki events, a pre-wedding celebration in South Asian cultures. As the catchy chorus plays, text on the video reads, “When there’s a bunch of Gen Z in the desi brown family, APT is all you know for dholki songs.” It’s clear that the song has become a bridge between modern pop culture and traditional wedding festivities, adding a unique twist to the classic celebrations.
Released as the lead single from Rosé’s debut album Rosie, APT was inspired by a South Korean drinking game and features a rhythmic chant that has taken over dance floors and now wedding halls. On February 6, 2025, it was reported that APT has reached the same level of dominance as Mariah Carey’s holiday classic All I Want for Christmas Is You, with the track holding a record-breaking 14-week reign on the Billboard Global Excl US chart.
