A newborn baby in an incubator was among several patients evacuated from Gandhi Hospital in northern Tehran after reported US-Israel airstrikes struck the area, causing significant damage to the hospital and nearby residential buildings.
Videos circulating on social media showed medical staff and emergency responders carrying infants and patients out of the facility as debris and shattered glass lay scattered across the premises. Witnesses reported that parts of the hospital’s exterior were severely damaged in the strike.
Emergency evacuation amid chaos
According to local reports, several newborns were inside the neonatal care unit at the time of the strike. Healthcare workers were seen moving incubators and critical patients to safer locations under urgent conditions.
The reported strike occurred amid escalating hostilities following the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israel operations. Civilian infrastructure, including schools and medical facilities, has reportedly been impacted in multiple locations.
Global concern over civilian safety
Humanitarian agencies have reiterated that hospitals and medical facilities are protected under international humanitarian law and must not be targeted. Independent verification of the extent of damage and casualties at Gandhi Hospital remains limited.
As tensions intensify across West Asia, the incident has amplified concerns about the humanitarian consequences of the conflict, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children and patients requiring critical care.
