A security camera at a bank in Rio de Janeiro captured a startling event. a woman, identified as 42-year-old Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, pushing a deceased man, 68-year-old Paulo Roberto Braga, into the branch. According to CNN Brazil, Nunes is accused of trying to use Mr. Braga’s identity to finalize loan documents, prompting concerns about her actions.
According to Reuters, Nunes informed a bank employee that her uncle wished to apply for a loan worth approximately $3,250. CCTV footage shows her holding a pen and attempting to move the man’s hand to sign, despite receiving no response.
In the video, Nunes can be heard saying, “Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign,” and remarking, “He doesn’t say anything, that’s just how he is,” before suggesting she sign on his behalf. She also mentioned taking him to the hospital if he was unwell.
Bank staff grew suspicious when the man’s head repeatedly fell back when not supported by the woman, prompting them to contact the police. Nunes was arrested on the spot on fraud charges, and the body was transported to the morgue, as reported by Reuters.
The incident occurred in Bangu, a city located a little over three hours by car from the tourist hubs of Rio de Janeiro, as per Agencia Brasil. Bank employees became wary when they observed Nunes speaking into the ear of the motionless man.
According to the woman’s lawyer, the man passed away at the bank, but a forensic analysis conducted by the police determined that he had died earlier while lying down.
