Bizarre Burglary in Shanghai: Thief Steals, Leaves Note on Security

Burglary

In an unusual burglary case in Shanghai, China, a thief broke into an office, stole a watch and laptop, and left a surprising note for the owner. The incident occurred on May 17, when the burglar, identified as Sang, scaled the building’s outer wall to gain entry.

Inside, Sang collected mobile phones and laptops, organizing them on a desk. Before leaving, he penned a note advising the owner to upgrade their security system. “Dear boss, I’ve taken a wristwatch and a laptop. You should enhance your anti-theft measures. I refrained from taking all phones and laptops to avoid disrupting your business,” the note read, ending with an offer to return the stolen items if contacted.

Following the burglary, Sang was swiftly apprehended after Shanghai police traced him through surveillance footage and the phone number left in the note. He was arrested while attempting to flee the city on a train, still in possession of the stolen goods. Sang is currently in custody pending further legal proceedings.

The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with mainland users dubbing Sang as a “kind thief” for his unusual actions. Others humorously suggested that instead of advising on security systems, Sang should have focused on improving his escape skills.
