A homemade bomb attack on a convoy in Balochistan’s Kachhi district resulted in the deaths of seven Pakistani paramilitary soldiers, with five others injured, on May 6, 2025. The vehicle targeted was part of a convoy en route to a security operation. The explosion occurred near the town of Mach, a region heavily affected by attacks from separatist groups like the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which has escalated violence in recent years.

While no group has officially claimed responsibility, the Pakistani military attributed the attack to “terrorists” from the BLA. The soldiers killed were part of a paramilitary force, and the wounded were evacuated to a hospital in Quetta. Balochistan, which borders both Afghanistan and Iran, has seen an uptick in militant activity as local separatist groups continue to oppose Pakistani authorities over the exploitation of the region’s natural resources.

This bombing adds to the mounting violence in the area, with more than 200 fatalities, mostly security personnel, reported in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa since the beginning of the year. The BLA has been particularly active, and in March, it took control of a train, resulting in the deaths of dozens of security personnel and militants.
