The creator of the viral AI-generated video, which depicts Donald Trump’s vision for the Gaza Strip, has come forward to explain its intent. Solo Avital, a Los Angeles-based filmmaker, stated that the video was a satirical creation, not meant to be taken seriously. He clarified that it was an experiment with AI tools in early February and that its unexpected viral spread caught him off guard.
Avital emphasized, “We are storytellers, not provocateurs. This was meant to be a satirical piece, but without proper context, it lost its meaning.” The filmmaker, originally from Israel, explained that the video was his commentary on Trump’s grandiose plans, including putting statues in Gaza. Avital’s business partner, Ariel Vromen, had shared the video on Instagram, but after some thought, Avital persuaded him to remove it.
The clip, shared by Trump on Truth Social, showed his vision of transforming Gaza into a lavish Dubai-style destination. It also included Elon Musk dancing on a beach amidst falling US dollars. A towering “Trump Gaza” sign marked the fictional city’s dominance, and the video ended with Trump and Israeli PM Netanyahu sipping drinks by the shore.
However, the video drew criticism from various quarters, including Hamas, which rejected Trump’s proposal, arguing it ignored the cultural and political realities of Gaza’s residents.
