New York: A tense exchange marked New York City’s final mayoral debate when Assembly member Zohran Mamdani directly confronted former Governor Andrew Cuomo over the sexual harassment allegations that forced his resignation in 2021.
Mamdani addressed Cuomo before a packed audience, drawing loud applause and cheers as he said,
“Mr. Cuomo, in 2021, 13 different women who worked in your administration incredibly accused you of sexual harassment. Since then, you have spent more than $20 million in taxpayer funds to defend yourself, all while describing these allegations as entirely political.”
The pointed remarks underscored lingering questions around Cuomo’s political comeback bid, with the former governor continuing to dismiss the allegations as politically motivated.
