Former Emirates flight attendant and social media personality Amanda King, known for her candid insights into cabin crew life, reportedly faced an internal probe after sharing controversial content. Her video, “Things You DON’T See as a Passenger,” filmed during a Shanghai layover, raised security concerns within the airline.
Emirates launched an investigation but ultimately did not dismiss any crew members, including King. A company spokesperson confirmed to Gulf News, “We are aware of the video and investigated at the time. No crew member was terminated as a result.”
King’s content often provided exclusive glimpses into crew life, including earnings, layovers, and onboard routines. However, some of her actions crossed Emirates’ strict policies. In her videos, she filmed herself baking a cake mid-flight, invited her boyfriend into a crew-only area, and swapped her designated crew seat to sit closer to him during takeoff and landing.
The airline reportedly viewed her content as a security risk, as it exposed sensitive details like emergency equipment locations and storage areas. Emirates maintains strict confidentiality over such information to uphold passenger safety and operational integrity.
In a broader industry move, British Airways introduced a policy in 2023 banning pilots and cabin crew from sharing any social media content while on duty, even selfies. The regulation sparked debate, with many staff members viewing it as an attempt to restrict their online presence.
