The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released surveillance footage showing a masked individual outside the home of Nancy Guthrie, mother of television host Savannah Guthrie, in what authorities describe as a significant development in the ongoing disappearance case.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her residence just outside Tucson on January 31 and was reported missing the following day. Investigators have previously stated they believe she was taken against her will.
Masked individual seen near doorway
The videos, lasting less than a minute in total, show a person wearing a backpack and ski mask approaching the front entrance. The individual appears to attempt to obscure the doorbell camera.
FBI Director Kash Patel said the “armed individual” appeared to have tampered with the camera system. Investigators recovered the footage from backend data systems after days of technical analysis.
Authorities have not confirmed the identity of the individual seen in the footage, nor have they disclosed whether the person is directly linked to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
Health concerns heighten urgency
Officials have stated that blood found on the porch was confirmed through DNA testing to belong to Nancy Guthrie. She reportedly suffers from high blood pressure, heart-related conditions and mobility challenges, and requires daily medication.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the doorbell camera was disconnected early on February 1. While movement was recorded later, the lack of an active subscription prevented immediate retrieval of footage.
Family appeals for information
Savannah Guthrie shared the surveillance images on social media, urging anyone with information to contact the FBI or local authorities. Public interest in the case has remained high nationwide.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump had viewed the footage and expressed concern. The FBI has launched a broader awareness campaign, including digital billboards across multiple states.
Authorities continue to investigate possible ransom communications but have not confirmed ongoing contact with any suspects. The investigation remains active.
Anyone with credible information is urged to contact federal or local law enforcement immediately.
