The breakdown of the Gaza ceasefire has resulted in at least 322 children killed and 609 injured in just 10 days—an average of 100 children killed or wounded daily. Many were displaced, seeking refuge in makeshift shelters and damaged homes. The casualties include those harmed in the March 23 attack on Al Nasser Hospital’s surgical unit.

With relentless bombings and a complete blockade on aid since March 2, essential supplies like food, water, and medical care are critically low. The humanitarian response is overwhelmed, leaving one million children at extreme risk.

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell emphasized, “Children have again been plunged into a cycle of deadly violence and deprivation. All parties must uphold their duty to protect them.”

Over the 18-month conflict, 15,000 children have died, 34,000 have been injured, and one million remain displaced. The ongoing aid blockade—the longest of the war—raises fears of rising malnutrition, disease, and preventable deaths.

Despite relentless attacks on humanitarian workers, UNICEF remains committed to delivering aid and protection. The organization urges an immediate ceasefire, the free flow of humanitarian assistance, and the evacuation of sick and wounded children.

The world cannot afford to remain silent as Gaza’s children continue to suffer.
