Since March 18, the UN reports that over 100 children are killed or injured every single day in Gaza amid relentless Israeli strikes, with the U.S. continuing to support Israel. Philippe Lazzarini of UNRWA called it “a stain on our common humanity,” condemning the devastation inflicted on young lives in a war they had no part in creating.
The humanitarian situation is spiraling. UNICEF confirms that at least 322 children were killed since the ceasefire ended, pushing Gaza’s children into another wave of deadly chaos. Catherine Russell, UNICEF’s Executive Director, said the fragile ceasefire had offered a “lifeline,” now cruelly snatched away.
On Palestine Children’s Day (April 5), the Palestinian Ministry of Education revealed a staggering 17,000 children have died in Gaza since October 2023. “Each number is a stolen life, a silenced story,” the ministry said, underscoring the depth of suffering.
Hamas accused Israel of systematic targeting of children, citing over 1,100 child arrests and 39,000 orphans since October. It claimed detained minors face torture, starvation, and medical neglect. The tragic death of 17-year-old Walid Ahmad in Megiddo Prison marks the first confirmed fatality among child detainees during this war.
UNRWA further warned of mass displacement—over 142,000 Palestinians in just five days—adding to the 1.9 million already uprooted. As bombardment and fear engulf the enclave, over 50,600 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have reportedly been killed.
