A German vlogger has taken social media by storm with his glowing review of India’s metro systems, calling them superior to some Western European networks.

Alex Welder, who has over 70,000 Instagram followers, shared a video praising the efficiency, cleanliness, and modern infrastructure of metro lines in cities like Delhi and Agra. He admitted to previously holding misconceptions, expecting rundown buses and chaotic tuk-tuks, only to be surprised by India’s state-of-the-art transport systems.

“Delhi’s metro has platform screen doors, phone charging points, and reserved seats for women and seniors—features I’ve seen in South Korea, Japan, and China but didn’t expect in India,” he remarked.

Welder, who stayed in South Delhi, noted that avoiding rush hours allowed him to find seats easily. His post has sparked an online discussion, with many users criticizing Western stereotypes about India.

The video has amassed over 3.8 million views, with comments hailing Delhi’s metro as cleaner and better managed than systems in London and other global cities.

One user remarked, “No drug addicts, no drunks, no rats—just clean, well-connected trains.” Another added, “Travel makes you see through Western propaganda.”

Welder expressed surprise that more foreign influencers hadn’t highlighted this aspect of India’s progress.
