In a tragic event, a 32-year-old Indian man lost his life in a fatal shooting during a robbery at a convenience store in Pleasant Grove, Dallas, Texas. Dasari Gopikrishna, originally from Bapatla district in Andhra Pradesh, had only recently moved to the United States eight months ago.
The incident took place at a gas station convenience store on June 21. Consul General D C Manjunath, who was in Dallas for a Yoga Day event, clarified that this incident was distinct from an earlier reported shooting in Arkansas.
Offering condolences to Gopikrishna’s family, Mr. Manjunath expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss, stating, “We are deeply saddened to hear about the untimely demise of Indian national Gopi Krishna Dasari in a robbery shooting incident at Pleasant Grove, Dallas, TX. We are in contact with local family members.”
The Consulate, in collaboration with Indian community associations, is actively assisting with arrangements to repatriate Mr. Gopikrishna’s remains to India, which involves local procedures such as autopsy and issuance of death certificates.
Gopikrishna sustained severe injuries during the robbery and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment, leaving behind his wife and son.
The incident has profoundly impacted the Indian community in Dallas and neighboring areas, with efforts underway to support the grieving family during this difficult time.
