London: A female British supporter of the Islamic State (IS) terror group has admitted to slaughtering innocent tourists in a devastating suicide bomb attack on the St Paul’s Cathedral in London, it was reported.

A London court heard on Friday that Safiyya Amira Shaikh, 36, went on a reconnaissance trip to scope out the historic site and a hotel in the UK capital, reports The Sun newspaper.

Shaikh also tried contacting a bomb maker online and asked if he could build IEDs as she was plotting an attack.

But she was caught out when the explosives expert turned out to be an undercover police officer.

At the Old Bailey or the Central Criminal Court here, Shaikh on Friday admitted to the preparation of terrorist acts and dissemination of militant publications.

The court heard that she intended to leave one bomb in the hotel and then take the other to St Paul’s.

Once there, she planned to detonate the IED – killing herself and slaughtering innocent visitors to the iconic site.
