Two Israeli tourists were allegedly harassed by a hotel employee in California during a heated exchange that was recorded and shared on social media.
The incident reportedly took place at a hotel in Cambria, California, where the employee questioned the tourists about Israel and military service during check-in.
Video sparks outrage online
In the viral video, the employee can be heard saying, “Free Palestine,” before asking the tourists questions including whether they were “baby killers” and if they had served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
The Israeli woman reportedly responded by telling the employee to remain objective towards guests and said he “should be ashamed.”
The interaction continued as the tourists briefly spoke to each other in Hebrew while the employee repeated questions regarding military service.
The man who filmed and uploaded the clip later posted a caption referring to one of the tourists as an “IDF soldier child killer.”
No official statement has yet been released regarding the incident.
Growing tensions and rising antisemitism concerns
The episode comes amid increasing global tensions surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict and growing concerns over antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment in several countries.
Recent surveys in the United States have shown changing public opinion towards Israel, especially among younger Americans.
Social media users reacted strongly to the hotel incident, with many criticising the employee’s behaviour towards paying guests and calling for professionalism regardless of political beliefs.
Others pointed to the growing polarisation surrounding discussions related to the Middle East conflict.
Debate over politics and public conduct
The incident has once again raised questions about how political opinions are expressed in workplaces and customer-facing environments.
Many online commentators stressed that personal political views should not affect the treatment of guests or customers in professional settings.
