Jeju Air CEO takes full responsibility after tragic plane crash in South Korea
After a tragic incident on Sunday involving a passenger jet carrying 181 individuals, Jeju Air‘s CEO, Kim E-bae, expressed deep sorrow for the loss. The plane, which skidded off the runway and crashed into a wall before bursting into flames at Muan County airport in South Korea, led to many fatalities. The airline offered its sincere condolences to the grieving families, as reported by Yonhap News Agency.
“I accept full accountability as the CEO, irrespective of the incident’s cause,” Kim stated.
Following the devastating crash of flight 7C2216, a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok, the airline issued an apology. The plane, during its landing attempt at Muan International Airport, veered off the runway and exploded, causing significant casualties. Rescue operations are still ongoing, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the disaster.
“We are committed to fully addressing the aftermath of this tragic event and extend our deepest apologies for the distress caused,” Jeju Air conveyed through their social media.
Preliminary reports suggest that the crash might have been caused by a “bird strike,” which may have led to the malfunction of the plane’s landing gear, worsened by challenging weather conditions.
The investigation continues, with further details expected about the cause of this devastating accident.
