Pop icon Katy Perry recently embarked on a journey unlike any concert tour—a flight to space. The adventure, part of Blue Origin’s historic all-female mission on April 14, 2025, left the singer feeling a mix of euphoria and unexpected letdown.
Organized by Jeff Bezos’ space venture, the suborbital trip featured an inspiring crew of accomplished women. Alongside Perry were TV host Gayle King, former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez—who also piloted the mission.
The voyage marked a powerful moment in space exploration history, emphasizing female leadership and representation in a field long dominated by men.
Despite the achievement, Perry opened up post-mission about feeling slightly underwhelmed by the brevity of the experience. “It was breathtaking—but over in a blink,” she remarked in an interview. “I expected more time to soak it all in.”
The flight, which lasted just over 11 minutes, offered a glimpse of Earth’s curvature and a few minutes of weightlessness before descending back to the Texas desert.
Still, the symbolic significance of the mission wasn’t lost on Perry or her crewmates. “We may have only spent a few minutes in space, but the impact of seeing women lead that journey—priceless,” said Sánchez.
This mission continues Blue Origin’s focus on inclusion, innovation, and accessibility in commercial space travel.
