Abu Dhabi: The spectacular musical extravaganza “Fiesta 2023” held at Abu Dhabi Country Club on November 11, 2023, was one of the most enchanting events of the year, that the Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO) celebrated with much fun and gaiety.

Sony TV Indian Idol 12 Reality Show Finalist, the talented, renowned singer, songwriter, and composer Nihal Tauro, performed for the first time in Abu Dhabi. The sensational Mangalorean singer who hails from Moodbidri and has been mentored by his father, treated his fans to an unmissable live event showcasing his highly acclaimed vocal style and fun-filled interaction with the audience.

Music has always been a part of Nihal’s growth and he has given his voice to many songs in different languages and genres. He has sung for around 25+ Konkani music albums, 12 films, 15 musical nites, 200+ stage performances and several TV reality shows.

Year after year KCO has earned a reputation for bringing out successful events and this year’s Fiesta 2023 was another feather in the cap. The event showcased KCO’s organizational capabilities and expertise in putting together an entertaining event of unparalleled calibre. The efforts put in by KCO members paid off and the show was a remarkable success. The fusion of multilingual musical pieces and amazing dances was thoroughly entertaining and magical, attracting a houseful audience.

Rev. Fr Maxim Cardoza began the evening by invoking God’s blessings on the event. He also implored Almighty’s blessings on the artists, performers, KCO members and all the audience present along with plans in place. Fr Maxim also mentioned the benevolent work KCO does in brightening the lives of many less fortunate people.

Jason Correa introduced the very entertaining and multitalented Master of Ceremonies Roshan D’Silva to the audience. Roshan took over the evening and carried out the proceedings in a very interactive manner involving the participation of the audience with entertaining spot games and humour. He held the programme together making sure the audience had an enjoyable time and bringing it to a successful finish.
The brilliant artists captured the hearts and minds of the audience with their unique musical talent and charm. The ambience illuminated the dance floor with their capturing performances and sensational singing.

The show began with a tint of surprise, as KCO introduced its original welcome song, composed by Melwin Peris, sung by Preema Rodrigues, Anitha D’Souza, and Vinay Lewis, and music by Ramiro Mascarenhas. The song beautifully reflected on the years of activities and services that were provided by KCO through the years and was appreciated by the audience.

The first session led by Preema Rodrigues, Anitha D’Souza, Elrich Dsouza and Vinay Lewis attracted the audience to the floor with some popular and foot-tapping songs, Havn Mog Korta, Mogan Ason Borem, Snjecho Vel, Valcha Udkak, Hero / Contrad Sasnacho and Ma Tegi Hena (Arabic song).

The highly acclaimed band Open High powered up the audiences with their mesmerizing accompaniment and songs throughout the show. They became an instant hit. Over the evening a strong rapport was seen developing between the audience and the band. The crowd had a rocking time on the floor swinging away to the tunes of Band Open High.

The programme was split into three sessions providing balanced and wholesome entertainment.

In a brief Presidential address, Vivek Serrao thanked the sponsors, well-wishers, and audiences profusely for their support. He also stated that the funds raised through this event were utilized in UAE and India through KCO Trust®, Mangalore, established in the year 2000, for education, by providing scholarships to deserving students in various disciplines, medical assistance to Patients with Critical illness, Dialysis, Heart transplants, Brain and Liver Surgeries, Contribution to Several NGOs.

The sponsors, well-wishers, media personnel and artists were introduced and felicitated during the programme.

The Jive dance contest was another special attraction of the night. The contest had 2 rounds of performances and 1st place was won by Jackson and Leona whereas Dwayne and Fiona were declared Runners-up. Both winners and Runners-up were awarded with cash prizes. Cyrila Sebastian and Vinay Vas were the judges for the Contest.

The second and third sessions by Nihal Tauro witnessed songs that captivated the hearts of the audience. He rendered soulful and enjoyable numbers like Shayad from Aaj Kal, Anisuthide, Tum Hi Ho, Geruha, Mokeda Singari, Pagetha, Dilbar Mere and Kesariya

Show-Stoppers dance troupe led by Sarah Sharlet Pinto performed some excellent dance numbers that stirred a lot of interest and left the audience clinging to their seats.

A raffle draw was also held towards the later part of the show where a lot of audiences won amazing prizes like a Sony TV, mobile phone, gold coin, Gift Vouchers and Perfumes!

The entire show was very well organized and meticulously planned under the able leadership of Vivek Serrao, the unity and solidarity among the KCO members was evident throughout the event. Jason Correa the entertainment secretary and the members succeeded in executing the event in an exemplary manner.

Effective sound system, vibrant lighting and stage effects by Broadway Events added colour to the show.
The people who attended the show had a word of praise for KCO’s efforts in providing one more quality entertainment with a sumptuous dinner.

The programme concluded with the traditional “Laudate” led by Roshan and all KCO members on stage. It was indeed a job well done.
