Lincoln : A man who was kidnapped and subjected to violence and humiliation made a dramatic escape by jumping from a first-floor window into a tree before running into a passing police vehicle in Lincoln, England.
The unnamed victim had been held captive at two different properties after being targeted in connection with the breakdown of a previous relationship, according to Lincolnshire Police.
Five people have now been jailed for their roles in the kidnapping and false imprisonment. Two of them received nine-year prison sentences, while the others were sentenced to between three years and seven months and five years and three months. All five were also given indefinite restraining orders preventing them from contacting the victim or his family.
Victim held captive after being lured to address
The ordeal began on July 4, 2025, when the victim was lured to an address in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.
Once inside the property, he was prevented from leaving.
Police said the man endured hours of violence, threats, humiliation and intimidation at the hands of his captors. The abuse was reportedly filmed on mobile phones, with those involved appearing to laugh while recording his suffering.
The victim was eventually forced into the back of an Isuzu pickup truck the following morning.
He was transported along back roads to a property on Portland Street in Lincoln, where he was again held against his will.
Desperate escape from first-floor window
The victim arrived at the Lincoln property at about 7.30am.
For several hours, he remained inside before seeing an opportunity to escape.
At 11.23am, he took the desperate decision to flee through a first-floor window.
CCTV footage released by police shows the man climbing out of the property before jumping into the branches of a nearby tree.
He then reached the ground and immediately ran towards the street.
The escape was extremely dangerous, but the victim appeared determined to get away from the people holding him captive.
Police car arrives by chance

As the man ran into the street, a marked Lincolnshire Police vehicle happened to enter the area.

Craig Ranyard, 42, received five years and three months for false imprisonment.
Danielle Thompson, 38, was sentenced to four years and nine months.
Nathan Gladwell, 36, received three years and seven months.
The court also imposed indefinite restraining orders preventing all five from contacting the victim or members of his family.
