A man from China, identified only by his surname Wang, was temporarily detained by police after posting a fabricated arrest warrant for himself on social media. The post, shared on November 11, featured a dramatic “Wanted Order” claiming Wang was a fugitive, allegedly extorting 30 million yuan (US$4 million) and possessing a submachine gun with 500 bullets. He also offered a reward for anyone who could find him.

The post quickly went viral, amassing over 350,000 views and thousands of reactions. However, it caught the attention of local police in Qinyuan county, who launched an investigation the next day. Upon questioning, Wang admitted that the story was completely made up due to boredom and disillusionment. Police confirmed he had neither committed the crime nor possessed any weapons.
