A 29-year-old man was found dead in his rented flat in Gurugram, with police probing a suspected overdose of sex-enhancing drugs, including Viagra.
The deceased was identified as Rohit Lal, a native of Nagpur who worked at Quality Council of India in New Delhi.
Found dead before fiancée arrived
The incident came to light after a co-worker alerted police when Rohit failed to answer calls or open the door.
Police reached the Sector 53 residence, forced open the room and found him lying dead on the bed.
Investigators said Rohit had invited his fiancée to meet him that day, but he died before she arrived.
Viagra, supplements recovered
Police recovered wrappers of Viagra tablets, other performance-enhancing medicines and health supplements from the room.
Initial findings suggest he may have consumed an excessive dose, which could have triggered a heart attack or severe medical emergency.
Forensic report awaited
Authorities conducted a post-mortem and handed over the body to the family.
Viscera samples and recovered medicines have been sent for forensic testing.
Police said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after laboratory reports are received.
Health warning issued
Doctors caution that misuse or overdose of sildenafil-based medicines such as Viagra can pose serious health risks, especially for those with underlying heart conditions.
Such drugs should only be taken under proper medical supervision.
