During a fishing trip in Australia, a great white shark bit the 16-year-old boy’s leg and sent him to the hospital. His father leaped to the rescue, pulling the shark off his son’s leg with just his bare hands. The incident happened on Sunday off the coast of South Australia, according to Newsweek. When the teenager unintentionally pulled the enormous beast in from a small fishing boat, he got bitten.

When the teenager started to reel in the catch, he and his father, Michael Ness, were more than two miles offshore. The outlet stated that the 16-year-old was attempting to take a picture of his catch when the shark bit into his leg.

His father did not hesitate to reach for the shark to save his son from the beast. Speaking to a local media outlet, Mr Michael said, “I was pretty scared, actually”. But then he revealed how he saved his son from the predator. “I reached in, pulled its mouth open, and I let go, and it fell back into the water,” he said.

Following the attack, paramedics were dispatched to the scene to tend to the 16-year-old. After putting an immediate stop to the bleeding, he was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital.

An ambulance spokesman, Craig Murdy, stated, “The 16-year-old boy has three quite deep lacerations—or teeth marks—to the lower leg.” “The bleeding was controlled by the time we got here,” he stated.

The great white shark, or white pointer shark, measured roughly six feet in length.

Australia’s waters are home to many great white sharks. Their multiple rows of razor-sharp teeth are designed specifically to tear through flesh. One of the top three species most likely to attack people without warning is the great white shark.

According to the International Shark Attack File, since records began in 1700, there have only been 47 unprovoked shark attacks in the South Australia region. According to the file, New South Wales accounts for the majority of shark attacks, with 272 unprovoked attacks.
