Peshawar: Following the attack by a Muslim mob on the Nankana Sahib shrine (birthplace of Guru Nanak), a Sikh youth had been reportedly killed by an assailant on Sunday.

According to the police, the youth is identified as Rowinder Singh, a resident of Shangla district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. He was found dead in the Chamkani police station jurisdiction.

The police said that he had come to Peshawar for marriage shopping.

The murder is suspected to be a case of personal enmity.

The body has been taken to a hospital for post mortem and more details are awaited.

Meanwhile, the Indian Minister of External Affairs (MEA) has condemned the act. It has said, “India strongly condemns targeted killing of minority Sikh community member in Peshawar (Pakistan) that follows recent despicable vandalism & desecration of Gurdwara Sri Janam Asthan at Nankana Sahib & unresolved case of abduction forced conversion&marriage of a Sikh girl.”
