Benjamin Netanyahu has announced plans to gradually reopen schools in Israel, emphasising caution and responsibility amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
In a video message shared on social media, Netanyahu praised citizens for their resilience and adherence to safety guidelines. He stated that the government is working to restore stability for children by resuming schooling “with responsibility and sound judgement”.
Focus on stability and routine
The Israeli Prime Minister stressed the importance of returning a sense of normalcy for children affected by the conflict. He noted that efforts are being made to ensure safety while gradually reopening educational institutions.
“We are working to return stability, security, and routine to our children as much as possible,” he said.
Government efforts to support citizens
Netanyahu also highlighted steps being taken to support the public during the crisis. These include measures to strengthen the economy, assist reservists and their families, and reduce the burden on citizens.
He credited public cooperation with civil defence instructions for enabling the government to continue its operations.
Claims of military progress
Earlier, Netanyahu stated that Israel is gaining the upper hand in the conflict, claiming that Iran’s missile and drone capabilities are being significantly weakened.
He said Israeli forces have destroyed hundreds of missile launchers and inflicted damage on Iran’s missile stockpiles and production facilities.
Escalating regional tensions
The developments come amid intensifying hostilities in West Asia, with ongoing missile exchanges and military operations between Israel and Iran.
As the conflict continues, the focus on reopening schools highlights the broader challenge of balancing security concerns with the need to maintain normal life for civilians, particularly children.
