At least 112 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in the past 24 hours as Israeli forces launched fresh strikes across Gaza. In one of the deadliest incidents, 33 people, seeking shelter in schools in Gaza City, lost their lives in three separate assaults.

Israeli forces have also issued new evacuation orders for southern neighborhoods of Gaza City. The UN estimates over 280,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced since Israel ended the ceasefire on March 18.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society condemned the recent killing of 15 medics and emergency workers, calling it “one of the darkest moments” in the ongoing war. These targeted killings are suspected war crimes, according to international observers.

The Gaza Health Ministry reports 50,523 confirmed deaths and 114,638 injuries since the beginning of the war. However, the Government Media Office places the actual death toll at over 61,700, citing thousands still buried beneath rubble.

In a related escalation, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon killed Qassam Brigades commander Hassan Farhat, his daughter Jenan, and son Hamza. The Lebanese Prime Minister decried the strike as a violation of the fragile ceasefire signed last November.

Meanwhile, reporting from Gaza City, journalist Hani Mahmoud described a terrifying reality: “There is nothing safe here… Death is very imminent now.”

The conflict began with Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,139 people and saw over 200 taken hostage.
